Please review these instructions before your appointment.
1. Arrive with a clean treatment area.
If possible, arrive without makeup, creams, serums, or other skincare products on the areas being treated.
2. Tell your provider about all medications and supplements.
Please disclose prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, aspirin, NSAIDs, anticoagulants, vitamins, herbal products, fish oil, vitamin E, and other supplements. Some medications and supplements may increase bruising or may interact with treatment.
Do not stop any prescribed medication, aspirin, anticoagulant, or medically recommended medication unless the clinician who prescribed it has told you it is safe to do so.
3. Tell your provider about relevant medical history.
Please notify us before treatment if you:
are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding;
have a neuromuscular disorder;
have difficulty swallowing or breathing;
have had a prior reaction to botulinum toxin;
have received any botulinum toxin product recently;
are taking muscle relaxants, aminoglycoside antibiotics, or medications that may affect neuromuscular transmission;
have an active infection, rash, or significant skin inflammation in the treatment area. FDA labeling specifically lists infection at the proposed injection site and known hypersensitivity to botulinum toxin as contraindications.
4. Alcohol and bruising.
If medically appropriate, consider avoiding alcohol for approximately 24 hours before treatment because it may increase bruising.
5. Stay normally hydrated.
Drink fluids normally before your appointment unless another medical condition requires you to restrict fluids.
6. Reschedule if you are ill or have an active infection.
Please contact the office if you develop fever, significant illness, or an infection/rash in or near the treatment area before your appointment.
7. History of cold sores.
If you have a history of cold sores and are receiving injections around the lips or mouth—such as a lip flip—please tell your provider before treatment. Procedures in this area may trigger a recurrence in susceptible patients, and antiviral prophylaxis may be considered when appropriate.
8. Recent cosmetic procedures.
Please tell us about recent facial treatments, peels, lasers, microneedling, fillers, biostimulators, dental procedures, or other injections so we can determine whether treatment timing should be adjusted.
1. Do not rub, massage, or apply significant pressure to treated areas.
Avoid rubbing or massaging the injection sites for the remainder of the day. If applying makeup or skincare, use a gentle touch. AAD specifically advises against rubbing or massaging treated areas.
2. Activity after treatment.
Avoid strenuous exercise immediately after treatment. AAD advises waiting at least two hours before strenuous activity; your provider may recommend a longer interval depending on the treatment performed.
3. Positioning.
Follow the positioning instructions given to you by your treating provider. If you are advised to remain upright for several hours after treatment, follow those instructions.
4. Avoid excessive heat and alcohol for the remainder of the day.
Saunas, hot tubs, very hot environments, strenuous activity, and alcohol may contribute to flushing or bruising.
5. Be gentle with skincare.
Avoid aggressive rubbing, exfoliation, retinoids, strong acids, or irritating skin treatments on the treated areas for approximately 24 hours unless otherwise instructed.
6. Other facial treatments.
Avoid facials, facial massage, microdermabrasion, microneedling, lasers, or other procedures that place pressure or irritation on the treated areas until cleared by your provider.
7. Expected temporary effects.
Mild redness, swelling, tenderness, small bumps at injection sites, headache, or bruising may occur and are usually temporary. Do not aggressively massage an area that is bruised or swollen.
8. Results take time.
Botulinum toxin does not work immediately. Improvement usually develops gradually over several days, and the final cosmetic result is generally assessed at approximately 2 weeks. Schedule your follow-up at that time if recommended.
9. Contact Elcin Aesthetics for non-urgent concerns.
Please contact us if you experience unexpected or persistent asymmetry, significant swelling, worsening pain, signs of infection, a new cold sore after treatment near the mouth, or any other concern.
10. Seek immediate medical attention for serious symptoms.
Although uncommon, botulinum toxin products carry an FDA boxed warning regarding possible distant spread of toxin effect. Symptoms can occur hours to weeks after treatment. Seek immediate medical care for difficulty swallowing, speaking, or breathing; generalized muscle weakness; severe vision changes; or other severe or rapidly worsening symptoms. Swallowing and breathing problems can be life-threatening.

During Your Appointment
Your provider will review your facial anatomy, muscle movement, treatment goals, medical history, and prior neuromodulator treatments. Injection points and dosing are customized to your anatomy and desired result.
The treatment itself is typically quick and involves a series of small injections using a fine needle. Most patients describe the sensation as a brief pinch or pressure.
Immediately After Treatment
You may notice:
Small raised bumps at injection sites
Mild redness
Minor swelling or tenderness
Occasional bruising
These effects are usually temporary and often improve within minutes to hours. Bruising, if it occurs, may last several days.
When Will I See Results?
Neuromodulators do not work immediately. You may begin noticing changes within approximately 3–5 days, with results continuing to develop over the following days.
Your final result is generally assessed at approximately 2 weeks.
What Will My Results Look Like?
The goal is not necessarily to eliminate every line or all facial movement. Treatment is customized to soften unwanted muscle activity while maintaining natural expression, balance, and facial harmony.
Results vary depending on:
Your anatomy
Muscle strength
Dose administered
Treatment area
Prior treatment history
Individual response to the medication
How Long Do Results Last?
For many patients, results last approximately 3–4 months, although duration varies by individual, treatment area, product used, dose, metabolism, and muscle activity.
Will I Need a Follow-Up?
If appropriate, a follow-up evaluation may be performed at approximately 2 weeks, once the treatment has had time to fully develop.
Please contact Elcin Aesthetics before your scheduled follow-up if you have any unexpected symptoms or concerns.
I’d add one small callout at the bottom:

For non-urgent questions or concerns:
Text Elcin Aesthetics at 347-256-4924.
Although serious complications are uncommon, botulinum toxin products carry a boxed warning for possible spread of toxin effect. Seek emergency medical care immediately if you develop:
Difficulty breathing
Difficulty swallowing
Difficulty speaking
Generalized or significant muscle weakness
Severe or rapidly worsening vision changes
Severe allergic symptoms such as facial or throat swelling, widespread hives, or difficulty breathing
Do not wait for a response from the office if you are experiencing a medical emergency. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
Botulinum toxin treats dynamic muscle movement, but it does not address every aspect of facial aging or skin quality.
Depending on your goals, your personalized plan may also include treatments designed to address:
Skin texture & collagen: Microneedling + PRF, RF Microneedling, CO₂
Under-eye hollowness or tired appearance: PRF / EZ-GEL
Facial balance & volume: Facial balancing treatments
Additional muscle concerns: Lip flip, DAO, chin, bunny lines, masseters, or Nefertiti neck treatment
Ask us at your appointment which options may be appropriate for you.
